Carbon Farming practises: Demonstration at Farm and Regional Level

The activities of the LIFE C-FARMs project continue, expressing the first results.

One of the key phases, coordinated by Confagricoltura, is the application of management practices selected within the project activities. These good practices will be tested on both small and large organisations located in the Lombardy Region.

The selected farms/companies (agricultural farms, livestock farms, poplar farms and woodworking industries) will be involved to assess the mitigation potential and feasibility of the proposed certification system.

This demonstration is intended to be a basis for the quantification of the incentives connected with the proposed certification scheme.

A demonstration at both Farm and Regional level will help business owners understand the variety of emission and removal sources and of greenhouse gases, which are affected by their activities.

The demonstration at Regional level, will present to the Regional authorities the GIS-FARMs tool allowing a better understanding of the mitigation potentiality of  widely adopted carbon farming practices.

The final objective of this activity is to provide support for defining agricultural measures to be implemented at Regional level on the basis of areas showing a better suitability. In order to have a broad and realistic view of the application of carbon farming practices for a more sustainable agriculture, the C-FARMs project is deeping relevant European regulations and relevant scientific bibliography, also testing  already exisitng innovative proposals.
