The LIFE C-FARMs project, now in its second year in February 2023, is becoming a reference project in Italy on Carbon Farming.
The article “Soil Carbon Storage Against the Climate Crisis,” published February 15th in the magazine “Rigeneriamo il Territorio” (an e-magazine for information and conversation on the topic of territorial regeneration, reclamation and redevelopment of brownfield sites), cites the C-FARMS project as an explorer of “feasible solutions to arrive at a method of soil carbon certification that balances cost and scientific rigor.”
The article features a talk by Lucia Perugini that, on behalf of CMCC Foundation as a partner in the project, draws attention to the complexity of quantifying soil-stored carbon and its relationship to agricultural practices that vary its concentration.
Deepening knowledge of soil carbon quantities is among the project objectives, and this requires knowledge of theory, skills in field sampling and laboratory analysis by trained and experienced personnel.
